Bow and Blade Balance and Bug Fixes

It's been some time since our last round of balance changes, and painful though they might be, they're always critical to keep Vindictus healthy and competitive, so that all characters fight with the same potential. As such, the Bow and Blade Update brings the following changes to our vast collection of mercenaries, as well as a gross of bug fixes and balance changes. Check it all out below.

Lann

  • Thousand Needles:
    • Furious effect now increases damage of Lightning Fury, Gliding Fury and Fury No. 7 by 20% (down from 30%)
    • Furious effect duration has been increased by 20 seconds
    • Using Thousand Needles while Furious will cause the Furious effect's duration to be increased by 1 second per hit (2 seconds per critical hit)
  • Active: Comet Dash: Can no longer gain SP during this attack
  • Active: Raging Fury: Will now always cause a Critical Hit, enabling Gliding Fury
  • Gust Sting:
    • Now charges faster
    • After a fully charged Gust Sting attack, while Thousand Needles is trained, Lann will gain 10 stacks of the Sharp effect, boosting his critical chance
    • Will activate Raging Fever with a [Smash] attack after Gust Sting is used
  • Fury Infusion: Successful attacks will heal Lann for 5% of the damage done
  • Beclaire: Marked enemies no longer deal 10% additional damage. Instead, when Lann is attacked by Marked enemies, they will ignore 10% of his DEF
  • Critical Damage: Increase with each rank reduced; max bonus at Rank 6 is now 30% (down from 55%)

Fiona

  • Active: Focal Point:
    • SP Cost reduced to 125 (down from 250)
    • If used after Shield Dash, Focal Point will consume 0 SP
    • Deals additional damage if used as a Standalone attack
    • Delay on the attack has been slightly increased
    • Can no longer chain after Petal Toss
  • Guard: After a successful Perfect Guard, you can counter-attack and immediately proceed into a 3-hit combo
  • Shield Charge: Damage has been increased
  • Shield Deflection:
    • Can now exit the Shield Deflection move by rolling away
    • Shield Deflection's effect will only be consumed once a [Smash] attack lands
  • Shield Bash:
    • SP Cost reduced to 125 (down from 250)
    • Can chain [Normal] attacks after a Shield Bash, 3-hit attack when using a Longsword, 1-hit attack when using a Long Hammer
  • Active: Blooming Violet: Can no longer gain SP during this attack
  • Active: Crushing Assault: Can no longer gain SP during this attack
  • Ivy Sweep: Additional options for the combo have been added once Rank 9 is trained. Attacks include:
    • [Normal x3] - [Smash] - [Normal]
    • [Normal x3] - [Smash x2]
    • [Normal x3] - [Smash] - [Normal] - [Smash]
  • Amaranth Kick:
    • Damage has been increased
    • SP Gain from the final kick has been increased to 62 (up from 50)
  • Stigma Hammer:
    • Can only use Shield Deflection when the charge is finished and the hammer is descending

Evie

  • Active: Meteor Swarm: Can no longer gain SP during this attack
  • Mana Shield: Damage taken in excess of the Mana Shield's remaining strength will be dealt to HP
  • Active: Rage Conductor:
    • Damage significantly reduced
    • Cooldown increased to 210 seconds (up from 150 seconds)
  • Active: Continual Focus: Cooldown reduced to 15 seconds
  • Mana Amber: Now depletes Stamina for as long as the shield is maintained
  • Flying Sparrow: STA cost decreased to 20 (down from 32)
  • Active: Arcane Gate: Damage significantly increased

Karok

  • Big Boned:
    • Activation rate has been halved to 15% (from 30%)
    • Once activated, Karok cannot be knocked down by dodgeable attacks
  • Stalwart:
    • Activation rate has been reduced to 8% (from 10%)
    • Defense Ignored amount has been reduced to 8% (from 10%)
  • Active: Extermination: Can no longer gain SP during this attack
  • Active: Internal Disruption: Can no longer gain SP during this attack
  • Made it easier for an unarmed Karok to run by double-tapping a direction key
  • All Pillar [Smash] attack damage has been reduced ~10%
  • Boar Crush:
    • Effect reduced to 12% (down from 18%)
    • Barrage effect increased to 30% (up from 15%)
  • Overall SP gains decreased for the following skills:
    • Barrage: 15 per hit (down from 30)
    • Barrage Blitz: 20 per hit (down from 35)
    • Mammoth Assault: 15 for the first hit, 32 for the second (down from 20 and 35)
    • Mammoth Force: 28 (down from 30)
  • Active: Whirlwind: STA gains decreased to 8/12/16/25 for the four hits (down from 10/15/20/30)
  • Bison Charge: Damage increased
  • Active: Earthquake:
    • Can now damage nearby enemies when Karok lifts his Giant Pillar
    • Main attack is now affected by Boar Crush
  • Beast Stance:
    • Rhino Stance: STA Gain increased to 30 (up from 20), STA recovery decreased to 7 per second (down from 10 per second)
    • Bison Stance: ATT Speed bonus decreased to 5%
    • Mammoth Stance: Damage bonus decreased to 5%
  • War Slam:
    • Damage increased
    • STA cost decreased
    • After the first War Slam attack, is no longer affected by Absorb Shock
    • After Barrage, War Slam gains the stacking Stompede effect, starting with the first attack, boosting ATT Speed by 20% per stack, max of 100% at 5 stacks
    • War Slam attacks can cause Bone Fracture
  • Crushing Sweep: Is now affected by Boar Crush
  • Savage Frenzy:
    • Restores 15 STA on attack
    • Bone Fracture chance doubled during Savage Frenzy
    • Does not consume Boar Crush
    • Can activate with [Direction Key] - [Smash]
    • Can follow-up with War Slam by pressing [Smash]
  • Dropkick:
    • Can now cause Bone Fracture
    • Gains additional power from Boar Crush
    • If in a Beast Stance, Dropkick will advance it to the next tier
  • Jumbo Pounce: Gains additional power from Boar Crush
  • Giant Stance: Now boosts movement speed
  • Pillar Toss:
    • Thrown pillar will once again track enemies properly
    • Boar Crush and Bone Fracture effects are doubled for Pillar Toss
  • Grizzly Sprint: Cooldown reduced to 60 seconds at Rank A (down from 110 seconds)
  • Reduced damage of the following Cestus attacks:
    • Bolo Punch
    • Straight Shot
    • Sunday Punch
    • Pivot Strike
    • Counter Bolo
    • Counter Straight
    • Blast
    • Strong Blast
    • Diamond Rush
    • Big Bang
    • Cataclysm
  • Clean Hit: Maximum effect reduced to 13% (down from 16%)
  • Brutal Flurry:
    • Damage slightly increased
    • Can now be immediately chained from a Bobbing Dash
  • Blast: Crushing Strike:
    • Damage bonus decreased to 5% (down from 7%)
    • If both Blast and Clash can be triggered at once, Clash will always take priority
    • When used with Diamond Rush, will consume 12 STA if there is at least 1 Blast Gauge
  • Additional information added to many tooltips

Hurk

  • Relentless:
    • The number of hits needed to advance Awakening Levels has been greatly increased
    • The pace by which Awakening Levels drop has been greatly reduced
    • When in an Invincible state (such as when knocked down or while transforming), Awakening Levels do not drop
    • Attacking enemies with normal attacks or Vortex more quickly advances Awakening Levels
    • Blockade will not advance Awakening at all
    • The overall effect of the above changes is to improve the stability of Awakening Levels while rewarding the use of lesser-used skills
  • Impenetrable: Now affects attack from all directions, not just the front
  • Decimate: Max Rank increased to Rank 6
  • Execute: Max Rank increased to Rank 6
  • Massacre:
    • Max Rank increased to Rank 6
    • STA cost decreased to 12 (down from 22)
    • Delay between attacks reduced
  • Vortex:
    • STA cost decreased to 12 for the spin attack, 20 for the final attack (down from 15 and 25)
    • Attack range increased
  • Berserk: SP Cost decreased to 500 (down from 750)
  • Deflection: Affected enemies no longer get pushed back
  • Onslaught: Affected enemies no longer get pushed back

Lynn

  • Active: Iron Flag:
    • Cast time reduced by 25%
    • SP Cost reduced to 100 (down from 250)
    • While using Jade Fox, SP Cost reduced to 50 (down from 100)
    • Can now dodge immediately after an Iron Flag attack
  • Active: Divine Spear:
    • SP Cost reduced to 150 (down from 375)
    • While using Jade Fox, SP Cost reduced to 75 (down from 150)
    • Attack range increased
    • Can now dodge immediately after a Divine Spear attack
  • Active: Chambers of Death: Can now dodge immediately after a Chambers of Death attack
  • Active: Long Armed Devil: Can now dodge immediately after a Long Armed Devil attack
  • Little Rat: Unguardable attacks can now be dodged
  • Killer Dart:
    • Charge Time when running and walking are now identical
    • While running, tapping [Smash] will no longer cause a Dash attack
  • Swift Assassins:
    • Now has a unique status icon if all 10 Swift Assassins on a target are Zhen Swift Assassins
    • Normalized the Stun Effect on enemies hit by multiple Swift Assassin charges
    • Swift Assassin can now be applied properly to multiple enemies

Arisha

  • Active: Counter Drain:
    • At Rank A: Can use [Left] - [Right] after an attack to make a Counter Drain attack without activating Mana Blade
  • Mana Blade:
    • DEF decreased by 5% while active
    • If Diffusion Warp is not trained and Mana Blade is active, a thrown Mana Crystal will return to Arisha in exchange for 35 MP when [Smash] is used
  • Mana Edge: Can be trained at Level 6 (down from Level 20)
  • Mana Drain: Can be trained at Level 8 (down from Level 20)
  • Arcane Flurry:
    • Can be trained at Level 20
    • Can be used without training, with lower ATT speed and range
  • Diffusion Warp: After using, DEF is decreased by 5% while the Diffusion Warp cooldown is in effect
  • Active: Ruin Blade:
    • At A Rank: Warps Arisha to a marked Mana Tracer target

Sylas

  • Active: Infinity Requiem: Can no longer gain SP during this attack

Bug Fixes and Other Changes

General

  • Improved compiler performance to fix a crash issue
  • Fixed an issue with the dock map not appearing correctly
  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to use an untradeable item by right-clicking its slot
  • Re-organized the Dock Shop Stalls
  • Multiple items obtained from a package will now display in a list
  • Fixed a Facebook logout issue
  • Fixed an issue with the client crashing when standing in town
  • Fixed a progression issue with the Betrayal storyline
  • Fixed an issue with Kean disappearing in the Approaching Farewell story
  • Fixed an issue where Event Blessing Stones couldn’t be used
  • Fixed a disconnection issue in regards to the Dedicated Servers
  • Fixed an issue where multiple Blessing Stone could be used simultaneously
  • Fixed an issue where characters could auto-run in the Avatar Shop
  • Players can no longer leave a party during the loading sequence for entering a boat or entering a battle

Gameplay

  • Fixed an issue where the SP and MP gauges occasionally become 0
  • Fixed an issue where the SP gauge would occasionally disappear when all active skills were placed in the Quick Slot
  • Fixed an issue where characters who have not learned any SP skills would see an SP bar when changing sectors
  • Fixed a client crash which occurred when the armor was destroyed during certain animations
  • Fixed an issue with monster difficulty in the following battles:
    • Succubus Queen
    • Blood Lord Reborn
    • Zecallion

  • Fixed an issue where the treasure chest icon reappears on the minimap when you enter and come out of the underground dungeon after opening it
  • Fixed an issue where Videk appeared twice in the Magic Shack
  • Reduced Lugh Lamhfada’s total HP
  • Fixed an issue where the pet death icon would appear on the mini-map even though pet is alive
  • Fixed an issue where putting an Enhancement Stone in after a failed Enhance would crash the client
  • Fixed an issue which caused Lugh Lamhfada’s partially destroyed shield to disappear
  • AP Events will now apply to Today Battles
  • Fixed an exploit which allowed players to fish without fishing equipment
  • Fixed an issue where the story NPCs did not show up at the end of certain story quests

UI

  • Fixed the location of the chat window tooltip
  • Fixed an issue where the previous character’s SP skill would appear in the SP skill slot in town
  • Re-organized the Dock Shop Stalls
  • Fixed an issue where searching for items over 50 characters long in the Marketplace did not work
  • Fixed an issue where the story hint checkboxes could not be unchecked
  • Fixed an alignment issue with the Supply Depot when changing resolutions
  • Fixed an issue with Battle UI not disappearing when pressing Alt key while waiting in the Arena

Crafting

  • Added Silent Quemielle Set to Tailoring
  • Added Exquisite Wild Southern Winter Set recipe to Tailoring
  • Fluted Long Sword and Twin Sword now use Spiked Gnoll Clubs instead of Gnoll Maces to craft

Arisha

  • The additional attack for Active: Counter Drain changed from S, W to A, D (← →)
  • Removed the delay from Active: Counter Drain’s first hit

Evie

  • Fixed an issue with the last attack’s hit box did not appear after “Hell Quake”
  • Increased the hit box of “Soul Skewer” a little to match its animation

Lynn

  • Fixed an issue where Lynn could use Little Rat to avoid unavoidable attacks and attacks that can’t be blocked with Perfect Guard

Kai

  • Fixed an issue where Kai’s optional key bindings did not apply correctly
  • Bow
    • Fixed an issue where “Active: Arrow Storm” follows up with Dodge activation during cooldown after it’s used with the Quick Slot
    • Fixed an issue where Normal Attack could not be done when pressing the direction key after using “Bee Stinger”
    • Fixed an issue with the arrow disappearing in the air after using an attack with “Magnum” or “Bee Stinger”
    • Fixed an issue with the animation occasionally freezing when getting hit after using “Charging Shot”
    • Attack speed now applies to Longbow “Charging Shot”
    • Fixed an issue where Bow Kai was able to use grappling moves without any SP cost or cooldown
    • Fixed an issue where Ricochet Shot did not trigger properly when used after certain skills
    • Fixed an issue with Bow Kai’s skill shot binding disappearing when Kai swaps his weapons
    • Fixed an issue where “Magnum” could be used with the Shortbow
  • Cross-Gun
    • Fixed an issue where the “Hand Bomb” skill and the Revolving skill would activate simultaneously
    • Fixed an issue with SP consumption amount Skill Awakenings not applying when Dodge Hand Bomb is used

  • Fixed an issue where Karok was able to acquire Stances without the appropriate Beast Stance rank
  • Fixed an issue where the “Overheat” effect didn’t occur when “Grab” is used after “Big Bang”

Vella

  • Fixed an issue where the Invader (twin chainblades) didn’t display properly
  • Fixed a client crash when Sword Vella hits a rock cliff in Cross Stance pose

Graphics

  • Fixed clothes details not rendering properly on higher settings
  • Fixed various clipping issues with the Swashbuckler/Elegant Enchantress Outfit
  • Fixed a character animation issue with the Rocheste by Sea Battle Quest
  • Fixed an issue where Aodhan’s face didn’t appear in the tutorial cutscene
  • Fixed an issue with the Female Pirate Hat icon not displaying properly
  • Fixed Vella’s abs not properly displaying with the Succubus Queen and Iset sets
  • Fixed a graphical issue with Siren monsters when hit by specific attacks from Hurk
