In this Developer's Note, I'm excited to share news about the facial modeling renewal for Vella, a character who has been cherished by many for a very long time.
Since the early days of Vindictus, Vella has maintained a dedicated fan base thanks to her unique personality and style.
However, as time has passed and new characters have been introduced, we have often received feedback that her appearance felt somewhat dated in comparison.
We have been continuously monitoring the various reactions to Vella's appearance across our communities.
The goal of this renewal was not simply to make her "prettier."
The core objective was to enhance her appearance to align with modern aesthetics in a natural and harmonious way, without compromising the unique charm that defines her.
We are pleased to introduce the before-and-after screenshots of the modeling improvements:
This renewal focused on improvements in the following areas:
- Her eyes, which appeared somewhat small, have been enlarged to create a more defined and clear impression.
- The protruding lower jaw has been softened to achieve better overall facial balance.
- The asymmetrical corners of her mouth have been corrected for a softer, more refined look.
- The philtrum area has been adjusted for a look that is both realistic and natural.
- The prominence of her cheekbones, which could appear overly pronounced, has been reduced.
- The angle of her eyebrows has been softened to create a gentler impression, moving away from a potentially sharp look.
- Her skin tone has been evened out to bring out the character's unique vitality.
- The overall jawline has been slimmed to complete a more harmonious facial contour.
Our approach to this renewal was one of great care, aiming to satisfy Vella's dedicated fans while making a positive impression on those new to her.
We hope this update successfully preserves her signature "charisma" and "alluring charm," refined with a more natural and modern feel.
These changes are scheduled to be applied with our upcoming July update.
