Today, I'd like to talk about Fiona's face model renewal—a character who has been dearly loved by so many players for a very long time.
This renewal was approached with deep thought and discussion. Our goal was not simply to make Fiona look better, but to capture the path she has walked and the unique narrative only she possesses in her appearance.
Fiona has already experienced two appearance updates. In those previous attempts, we did our best to highlight her charm within certain limitations, but we recognize that the results did not satisfy everyone.
For this third renewal, we reached an important crossroads: Should we make minor tweaks to her current look, or embark on a completely new direction?
After much deliberation, we chose the bold path of a complete overhaul. Our experiences taught us that a fundamental change was now necessary, something that goes beyond incremental improvements. Through this, we hoped to open up new possibilities for Fiona.
Our next concern was: "Where should the new Fiona begin?"
We found inspiration in Fiona from 'Vindictus: Defying Fate,' a successor to the Vindictus IP. We believed that even with a complete redesign, grounding her in another Fiona who carries the same legacy would allow players to embrace her new charm without feeling a sense of disconnect.
A character's appearance is a mirror reflecting the life they've lived. The most important focus for this renewal was to visually embody Fiona's narrative. To reflect her life as a battle-hardened mercenary, we added a faint scar to her face—not just as decoration, but as a detail symbolizing the strength she gained from overcoming countless battles.
Through this, we aimed to convey the depth and presence of a warrior, hidden beneath her elegance and resolve. We hope you'll discover a new, multifaceted side to Fiona in her revamped appearance.
We have also introduced a new hairstyle that further enhances the updated Fiona and completes her look.
This face model renewal was a challenge for us as well. Rather than take the safer route of refining her existing look, we chose a bold leap for the character's future.
While honoring Fiona's beloved lore and story, our sincere wish is that this reimagined version—modernized and inspired by 'Vindictus: Defying Fate'—will once again win your hearts.
